Bitter Kola belongs to the family Clusiaceae, can be found in Benin, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Ghana, Nigeria and Liberia. It is found naturally on subtropical or tropical lowland forests of moist ground.

Bitter Kola (Garcinia kola) is known for a lot of beneficial properties. It is adapted to humid rain forests.
